The Burnet High School softball team announced its District 24-4A award winners and members of the all-district team now that each squad’s season has ended.
The Lady Dawgs won a district title for the first time in 21 years in 2023. Therefore, many members were chosen by opposing head coaches for the superlative awards.
Sophomore Presely Crawford is the district’s Pitcher of the Year. She finished the season with 237 strikeouts to rank in the top three in program history.
Junior Camrynn Guthrie was named the district’s Catcher of the Year. Guthrie is one of the few high school catchers who calls the pitches to her teammates in the circle.
Junior Maddi Moise is the Offensive Player of the Year. She hit eight home runs this season, the most in a single season in program history.
Lexi Leatherwood is the co-Defensive Player of the Year. Opposing teams could forget about getting on base when a ball was hit to Leatherwood because she automatically knew what to do.
The first team all-district members are senior McKenzie Davis, freshman Journey Denton, senior Addie Grace Hernandez and junior Kyleigh Mott.
Second team all-district members are juniors Kenzye Raiford and Elyse De Arcos.
Head coach Hailey Wooten is the district’s Coach of the Year.
Named academic all-district are freshmen Halle Maxwell and Carlee Williams, Crawford, Davis, De Arcos, Denton, Guthrie, Hernandez, Moise, Mott and Raiford.
Davis and Hernandez were selected to the academic all-state team by the Texas High School Coaches Association.
